Diet therapy with diacylglycerol oil delays the progression of renal failure in type 2 diabetic patients with nephropathy.

چکیده
D iet therapy for diabetic nephropathy is important in preventing the progression of renal failure by controlling hyperglycemia, hypertension, hyperlipidemia, and obesity (1,2). Edible oil containing mainly diacylglycerol (DAG) oil, compared with conventional triacylglycerol oil, has been reported to possess unique nutritional properties with respect to serum lipids and body fat metabolism (3–6). We previously reported that a 3-month intake of DAG oil significantly reduced fasting serum triglycerides in subjects of type 2 diabetes with hypertriglyceridemia (7). In the present study, we conducted a further clinical study for 6 months with an additional 3-year follow-up period to investigate the long-term effects of DAG oil in dietary therapy in subjects with type 2 diabetes with nephropathy.

Comparison of Diagnostic Value of Intrarenal Doppler Indices and Microalbuminuria for Detection of Diabetic Nephropathy in Type II Diabetic Patients
Background & Aims: Diabetes is the most common cause of renal insufficiency throughout the world. The main cause of renal failure in diabetic patients is microvascular endothelial injuries that is secondary to atherosclerosis and ischemia. The efficacy of renal Doppler indices such as resistive index (RI) and pulsetile index (PI) for the evaluation of intrarenal arteries has been shown. This st...
متن کاملEfficacy of pentoxifylline for reduction of proteinuria in type II diabetic patients
Background: Diabetic nephropathy is considered to be the most common cause of end stage renal disease (ESRD). Proteinuria is declared as the most marked risk factor in progression towards ESRD. The aim of this study was to evaluate the efficacy of pentoxifylline for reduction of proteinuria in type II diabetic patients. Methods: From May 2007 to June 2008, this randomized clinical trial study w...

Introduction: Diabetic nephropathy is the most common cause of renal failure. High blood pressure, specially its glomerular type is one of the dominant factors in the development of nephropathy in diabetic patients. The present study evaluates the effects of Hibiscus Subdariffa on blood pressure and urinary albumin in patients with diabetic nephropathy. Methods: Current study was a double-bl...

The aim of this study was to identify the risk factors for diabetic nephropathy in diabetic patients. Instruments & Methods: In this cross-sectional descriptive study, 121 pat...
متن کاملRelationship between Serum Homocysteine and Other Parameters in Overt Diabetic Nephropathy
OBJECTIVE: Level of serum homocysteine is remarkably common among patients with moderate to sever renal failure. We assessed whether serum homocysteine concentrations were correlated with proteinuria in overt diabetic nephropathy. MATERIALS AND METHODS: A cross-sectional study was carried out on 45 patients (29 males, 16 females) with overt proteinuria. All subjects had type 2 diabetes. Data i...
